Percy Jackson and the Olympians
[Percy Jackson]
Committee Size: 25 delegates
Percy Jackson and the Olympians stands as a fictional topic revolving around severe problems emerging within the mystic world in Camp Half Blood, Olympus, and in the Mortal World.
Demigod Integration into the Mortal World
For centuries, Demigods have found safety within the borders of Camp Half-blood and Camp Jupiter with assistance from satyrs and Fauns. From a young age, most demigods will be searched out and transported to camp. However, beyond this age, half-bloods face the potential dangers of monsters and spirits lurking through the mist in search of these powerful beings. In this topic, delegates will take on the challenge to create special education for demigods with Dyslexia/ADHD, and how to detect and lead demigods safely to camp before the monsters sense them first while maintaining the fractured relationship between the Gods, mortals, and half-bloods.
The Ethics of the Mist
In the universe, a thin veil, the Mist, separates the mortal and supernatural world. Large battles in the mythical world may be portrayed as an earthquake or hurricane to the mortal world, but many spells and curses will still affect humans. Only Gods and demigods possess the ability to control the mist; but many still wonder if it is safe for humans to be in contact with the mist as well. Delegates will have to consider the benefits and drawbacks of the secrecy of the vapor, and the potential dangers humans may face if monsters and other threats are open to the mortal world. Delegates will debate the solutions and precautions to be taken to preserve the delicate balance between the two worlds.
