Dear Delegates, Sponsors, and Guests of WMUN,

      On behalf of Wilder Model UN, I am deeply honored to welcome you all to our very first annual iteration. Taking place at L. Douglas Wilder Middle School on April 25th and 26th, we strive to provide you with a remarkable opportunity to channel your critical thinking skills when faced with complexities.

Throughout our lives, we recognize various instances in which we are unable to voice our concerns in regard to controversial topics. With Wilder Model UN, we hope to foster an environment where you speak up for your beliefs in a diplomatic setting. Whether you leave WMUN with an award or not, we hope you work productively with the delegates in your committee to collaborate, lead, and communicate your innovative ideas. By manifesting your valuable ideas, courage, and determination, we trust our conference is a memorable experience in your Model UN journey. 

For the past year, I have worked with an efficacious group of members working diligently towards ensuring a successful initiative. Driven by the goal of helping delegates strengthen their confidence, we have worked endlessly to maximize our performance. Thanks to their determined work alongside the flawless support from our chairs, sponsors, and other individuals, we are able to proudly display our conference among the Model UN community. 

Our conference is formed with eight diverse committees, each incorporating our empowering theme, “Start your Legacy.” Ranging from topics highlighting the Yemen Civil War to AI in Education, we have thoroughly selected committees which can impact our delegation. As a delegate, you can incorporate this theme during our conference by responding to crises responsibly and collaborating with your peers appropriately. Essentially, implementing the theme in your life through your words, actions, and mindset will build your character and make you a role model to future generations.
